On 26th April 2017 Horsham District Council formally ‘made’ the Thakeham Neighbourhood Plan.  The Plan is now part of the framework of district planning guidance, against which future development applications will be judged.  Sites not identified for development in the Plan will be much less likely to be approved.

Update Q3 2026

Due to the failure of Horsham District Council's local plan at the Planning Inspectorate in 2026, Thakeham Parish Council's Neighbourhood Plan is now currently out of date and carries less weight in planning policy. 

Thakeham Parish Council are waiting for Horsham District Council's Local Plan, which as of September 2026 has been resubmitted and is being evaluated by the Planning Inspectorate. If this plan successfully passes, Thakeham Parish Council will be allowed to update the Thakeham Neighbourhood Plan.
